Facebook Testing Revamped Offers With ‘Remind Me’ Option, New Layout

A new version of offers being tested by Facebook is aimed at giving users more options, such as the choice of redeeming the offers immediately or receiving reminder emails and notifications prior to the expirations of the promotions.

Sister blog Inside Facebook reported on the offers test, saying that users who receive offers involved in the test will see the “get offer” button replaced by two buttons: “shop now” and “remind me.”

According to Inside Facebook, the shop now button brings users to retailers’ websites, while the remind me button will leave it up to retailers to email and send notifications to users before the promotions expire, with retailers limited to one notification per offer.

If users select remind me, they will then be given the option of sharing the offers with friends via a “tell friends” button, as opposed to the current offers format, in which stories were automatically generated, Inside Facebook pointed out.

Offers in the test are also using a different layout, with larger images and calls to action that appear as buttons, rather than hyperlinks, according to Inside Facebook.

An offers bookmark is also added to the menu on the left-hand side of users’ homepages as part of the test, Inside Facebook reported.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the test to Inside Facebook, saying that the social network is working with a few global retailers, but most offers will remain in their traditional format.
